The Institutional Religious Freedom Alliance safeguards the religious identity and faith-shaped standards and services of faith-based organizations, enabling them to make their distinctive and best contributions to the common good.

IRFA works to advance public policies and public attitudes that respect the character and service of faith-based organizations. It supports and honors the spectrum of organizations that comprise the religious pluralism of our society.

IRFA accepts as its foundational guide the teachings of the Christian Bible as understood in the historical and classical teachings of the Christian Church. IRFA understands those teachings to favor a vigorous but limited government and flourishing civil society institutions, and public policies that treat equitably individuals and organizations of every faith and secular conviction, consistent with the common good.

Vision

IRFA shares with its members a vision for the future where the government protects our freedom to live as we are convinced God calls us to live. A vision where public policies and public attitudes honor the distinctive religious convictions and practices of our missions, colleges, universities, hospitals, emergency shelters, businesses, and other organizations which are guided and shaped by their faith. A vision that is manifested by faith-shaped identities, “faith-shaped standards, and faith-shaped service.

In order to preserve, protect, and promote this vision, IRFA will speak with words and images that reflect the material impact that these faith-filled entities are making in the world. Through the lens of their service to others, IRFA will touch the hearts and minds of those who seek to confine religion to private life, and begin to show them the “faces” of ministry that represent in so many ways their unique contributions to society.

Ministries that…educate the next generation, save the children, feed the hungry, cure the sick, free the addict, council the depressed, house the homeless, mentor the downtrodden, respond to catastrophes, comfort the dying, hear the cries of the oppressed, and so many more faith-shaped passions that make life fulfilling
