IRFA submits comments regarding Child Care and Development Fund Program
IRFA submitted comments to the federal government on August 5th in response to proposed new regulations for the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Program, which gives federal funds to states to pay for child care for low-income families. From its inception, CCDF has been carefully designed so that faith-based providers can take part without suppressing their religious aspect. Certificates (vouchers), rather than grants and contracts have been the major funding mechanism for that reason. But the proposed new rules may limit the participation of these faith-based organizations, in the name of improving quality. IRFA’s comments point out troubling areas and call for revised rules that will not limit faith-based participation. See the comments here.
